You won’t want to miss the annual Governor’s Quality Award Healthcare Seminar, Tuesday, June 19 at Embassy Suites Hotel, Little Rock. This year’s theme is “Adapt and Overcome: Strategies for Agility in a Changing Industry.” The seminar is from 8:45 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Jason Glover, vice president of operations at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital, is the featured speaker. Glover has been with the Memorial Hermann system for four years and he is the recipient of the 2016 Baldrige National Quality Award.
Glover’s topic is “Category 6 Hurricane: Our Baldrige Survival Guide for Weathering Any Storm,” beginning at 9 a.m. His community hospital in Sugar Land, Texas, survived the 2017 flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Glover will discuss how leadership, planning, and workforce and customer focus helped the hospital survive the weather emergency. He will explain how agility, a strong process design and measurement systems helped the hospital, its staff and patients meet the challenge of a 1,000-year flood event.
Rhelinda McFadden, RN, CPHIMS, PCMH-CCE and manager of PCMH Practice Transformation for AFMC, will speak at 10:30 a.m. McFadden has more than 20 years of health care experience, including more than 10 years in quality improvement. She will discuss “Recalculating Health Care Transformation – Building a Patient-Centered Foundation to Allow Health Care Providers Flexibility in Navigating New Models of Care.”
From 11 a.m. to noon, a panel of experts will discuss health care systems’ transformation to value-based care, “Value Versus Volume,” followed by lunch.
CEO of Amitech Solutions, Amit Bhagat, MBA, will discuss “How Data Analytics is Transforming Health Care and Driving Agility” at 1 p.m. Bhagat’s advice is based on more than 20 years of helping health care organizations develop and implement growth strategies and drive operational improvement. He will show how innovative information technology can work in concert with culture, people and processes.
The seminar will close with Martha Davis, a consultant with Performance Excellence Healthcare Navigant Consulting of Chicago at 2 p.m. Davis’ presentation is “Organizational Transformation: Engaging the Head and the Heart.” She has more than 25 years of leadership in talent management, patient experience and change management to help organizations create a culture of high performance toward their purpose.
The Governor’s Quality Award Program is a partnership of health care organizations that provide leadership to the Arkansas health care industry. Formed in 2009, the partnership includes sponsorship from the:
